Lucky Cats Fall Call for Care '24: Spay It Forward!

What a year this has been for Lucky Cats! Last year at this time, our team was desperate to find spay/neuter appointments to facilitate TNR (trap-neuter-return) and low-cost spay/neuters. Many former veterinarian alliances had sold to corporate entities no longer willing to partner, and many of our low-cost clinics had paused due to the veterinarian shortage.

However, our perseverance was rewarded with new creative ideas that resulted in spaying and neutering community cats at a higher rate than at any time in our history!

In August, we spayed/neutered 159 cats in the Lake Norman region, a new record for Lucky Cats! In addition, last month our Spay-A-Thon in Kinston, NC helped 91 community cats, and we hope to help even more in the future with our Spay It Forward campaign.

Our spay/neuter focus targets areas of intense need to help curb the overpopulation in our shelters.

Did you know NC is third in the country behind California and Texas for most shelter animals euthanized with 75% being cats?

Did you know entering a shelter is the number one documented cause of death for cats in the United States?

We can do better than this. When community cats or kittens just show up, grow up, and start reproducing, they are destined for a tragic life. Lucky Cats turns this scenario around; stops the breeding cycle, and creates very Lucky Cats, one cat at a time by facilitating TNR for community cats.

Thanks to new partnerships, we are making a difference, but this couldn’t have been possible without you. Your donation last year made this year’s success possible. As we continue our work to facilitate high-volume spay/neuter days, we are also taking a new and creative approach to this year’s fundraiser.

This year, we’re asking for your financial gift to help us do even more in 2025. In addition, please consider valuables too. If you have jewelry, antiques, or other items of value that you would like to give to support our work, we welcome your donation. You can make a difference to community cats, and clean out your closet and attic at the same time!

We’ll collect items this fall and winter and curate our treasures for our new Spring Spay It Forward Auction in 2025. Donations can be dropped off at Lake Norman Realty, 20117 W Catawba Ave, Cornelius, NC 28031.

Please make your contribution to Lucky Cats today. Just click here to give, and thank you in advance for donations for our auction. Every gift makes a difference and helps us help one more cat. Thank you for our presenting sponsors for Lucky Cats Fall Call for Care and our Spay It Forward Campaign: Giving With Grace and Lake Norman Realty.

Conan is a community cat in Kinston, NC. His tipped ear shows he is a Lucky Cat, and signifies he has been TNR'd (trapped-neutered-returned and is cared for by dedicated volunteers.)

Lucky Cats is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to improving the welfare of cats in our community by humanely reducing the number of unowned cats and kittens through TNR and helping low-income pet owners with spay/neuter services. Since our inception in 1998, we have spayed/neutered thousands of cats, prevented tens of thousands of kittens from being born, and strive to help even more.

We’re making a difference one cat at a time reducing cat overpopulation, lowering euthanasia rates, and providing humane solutions benefitting cats and people. We are grateful for your support. For more information, visit LuckyCats.org or Contact Us.

Thank you for your generosity!
